Tambasasayama has a large number of potential places to visit, things to see and to do. As the city is located in the countryside of Japan, it covers a large area, so there are many green spaces to enjoy between specific locations. That can make one day visits more challenging if you want to visit a number of places. One option is to stay for a few days, a long weekend to have more time to enjoy various experiences. That means finding a place to stay overnight. Presently, the number of hotels in the city is somewhat limited but another option to consider is homestay!
We ourselves have been receiving homestay visitors for the past two years. We have received visitors from overseas but also Japanese residents who live in a bigger metropolitan city who want to try a countryside experience. There is such a variety of places to see here in Tambasasayama that often one long weekend is not enough, that’s why many people come back again to experience more of Tambasasayama and its people. Each season has its own set of experiences of delicious foods to try, sights to see or things to do, so visiting again in a different season can be a whole new experience.
A simple search for ‘Homestay in Tambasasayama’ in Google maps shows a number of homestay locations. As you may see from this link there are a large number of options, not strictly ‘homestay’ though, which I would define as ‘staying with a local family in their residence’. It includes mostly guest houses or ‘kominka’, (which means a traditional old style Japanese house, that may offer different types of stay experiences with a wide variety of prices depending on the location and services offered).
A homestay experience can be a great way to meet and connect with some local people. They may also have some great ‘insider information’ on places to visit, eat at or things to experience, something different that may not be so well known or advertised. I have included here a link to connect with us in case you may be interested in finding out more information regarding our homestay opportunities.
