Heavy traffic expected in Tambasasayama during Aji-Matsuri Month
Black Edamame will be released in early October 2025 in Tambasasayama. Heavy traffic is expected across the city during the three weeks of the Edamame on-sale period.
Please pay attention to traffic information to ensure a smooth purchasing experience for everyone.
Note: We strongly recommend that visitors arrive in the city before 10:00 am to avoid traffic congestion and to secure a parking space.

〇A route from Tannan-Sasayamaguchi IC to Sasayama Castle Ruins
Especially the road from the Tannan-Sasayamaguchi IC to the Sasayama Castle area via Midorikan tends to have heavy traffic cogestion due to the single-lane road. A bus also operates on this route, connecting the station to the castle town. We appreciate your cooperation in using the detour.

〇 A route from Sasayama Castle Ruins to Tannan-Sasayamaguchi IC
The road from the Sasayama Castle town area to the Tannan-Sasayamaguchi IC is expected to have heavy traffic congestion in the afternoon. Please consider the following measures to avoid congestion:
1) use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion
2) adjust your commute times
3) utilize different interchanges such as Sanda Nishi IC, Takino-Yashiro IC, Chiyokawa IC on the Kyoto Jukan Expressway, Hanshin Expressway Ikeda Kibe IC, etc., as referenced below).

Note: Detour signs will be placed in several locations between the Tannan-Sasayamaguchi IC exit and the Sasayama Castle town area.
〇 Guide to using interchanges other than Tannan-Sasayamaguchi IC
Using other interchanges may help you arrive sooner in case of congestion at the Tannan-Sasayamaguchi IC. Please check the road traffic information for the congestion status on the expressway. In October 2024, a traffic jam occurred on the main line of the expressway, starting from the Tannan-Sasayamaguchi IC, with a maximum length of about 9 km and an estimated travel time of around 2 hours to the exit.

Parking lot information
Parking near the Sasayama Castle Ruins can be very difficult. Please consider using the free parking lots located a little further away.
Free loop bus “meGREEN”
Free loop bus “meGREEN” is available on Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays. You can enjoy the scenery of the castle town at a leisurely pace while traveling between parking areas and tourist hubs on a quiet electric bus.
Please note that on October 18 and 19, the meGREEN service will be suspended due to the procession of floats for the Kasuga Shrine Autumn Festival.

Traffic restrictions
Due to heavy congestion in the Sasayama Castle town area in October, vehicle access will be restricted for safety reasons.
‘October 4th(Sat), 5th(Sun), 11th(Sat), 12th(Sun), 13th(Mon/holiday), 18th(Sat)*, 19th(Sun)*
From 10am to 4pm, Sections A and B are closed to vehicles (pedestrian only zones)
*On the 18th (Sat) and 19th (Sun), there will be additional traffice ristrictions besides the hours mentioned above due to the Kasuga Shrine Autumn Festival .
October 25th(Sat), 26th(Sun)
From 10am to 4pm, Section B is closed to vehicles (pedestrian only zones)
[Public transportation] Bus detour operation
During the traffic restrictions noted above, “Nikaimachi”, “Kasuga-Jinjya Mae”, “Gofukumachi”, “Jouhokuguchi” bus stops will not be in operation. Please get off at “Sasayama Honmachi” or “Shimo-Tatsumachi.” It is also recommended to get off at “Nishimachi” and take the free loop bus “meGREEN” from “Nishishinmachi.”
