Sasayama Children’s Museum (Chirumyu) is a museum of play in the abundant nature.
You can look for creatures in the hill called ‘Gonta-yama’ or streams in the museum. Yes, here, all adults can be children again.

Inside the buildings, you can play with nostalgic toys from good old days and ingenious toys from around the world that will make you lose track of time.

A wide variety of events, workshops, puppet shows by Japan’s oldest puppet theatre ‘LA CLARTÉ’, and programs for community participation and utilization, community activities, parent-child activities are regularly organized.

The goal is “excitement” that everyone felt as a child.

Sasayama Children’s Museum’ (Chilmyu) was opened during the first summer vacation of the 21st century, utilizing the former Taki Junior High School building which was closed due to school integration. The aim was to be a base for developing creative human resources and children’s creativity and capacity for life.
Inside the old wooden school building, visiters can enjoy learning Japanese and world’s children’s culture, feeling of wood in the classroom filled with wooden toys, and touching the essence of educational psychology.

Children’s curiosity is cultivated by taking part in workshops based on museum themes such as nature, food, work, etc., and experiencing big ‘Wow!’.

Outside, surrounded by Satoyama, children can touch small creatures and play on hands-on playground equipment which they can make large soap bubbles.
This is the museum not only for children, but also for adults who have caring for children and the hearts of children.
