Workshop at the Historical Area of the Aoyama Clan: Playing with Scents
Workshops are held in the Historical Area of the Aoyama Clan that present a simplified version of Genjiko, which is one style of Kodo (“Way of Incense,” a fun ceremony to identify types of incense).
Participants try to identify which of five types of incense are the same, using diagrams derived from symbols that appear (Genjiko-no-Zu) in the Tale of Genji to indicate their answer. Participants will receive a scented insert (Fumiko, or “letter incense”) as a free gift.
The participation fee is 500 yen per person. (The admission fee to the Historical Area of the Aoyama Clan must also be paid as follows: Adults: 300 yen, High school and university students: 200 yen, Elementary and junior high school students: 100 yen)
