Introduction
We have put together some recommended courses for families. They give examples of a 1-night, 2-day course for 2 adults with 2 elementary school students traveling by rental car. Tambasasayama City has many attractions to offer, but facilities are spread out, so traveling by car will make it more convenient and comfortable. We believe these itineraries will be enjoyable for both parents and children. Please have a great time exploring the countryside of Tambasasayama City and its abundant natural beauty.
Course
Tambasasayama City was created by the merger of four counties. Yet even today, each of the previous areas retains its unique characteristics, among which the castle town area is the most well known. Of these, the Tamba pottery area in Tachikui of Konda Town has a history that dates back over 800 years. It is one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kiln Sites, and it’s still passing on its traditions and techniques today.
These courses will allow you to experience making pottery in Tachikui, followed by a chance for energetic children to unwind at Unitopia Sasayama. On the second day, you can enjoy outdoor activities for the entire day, as course A suggests, or just half a day, followed by enjoying the scenery of the castle town area and experiences such as trying on Samurai armor before heading home, as course B suggests.

Summary of Course A
Day 1: By car to Sue-no-Sato (Konda Town) → Lunch → Pottery experience → Walk to the oldest climbing kiln of Tamba pottery and stroll around the studios and kiln sites in Kiln Alley → Check in at Unitopia Sasayama.
Day 2: Check out from Unitopia Sasayama → All-day outdoor activities within the Unitopia grounds. （Lunch is available at the restaurant on the premises.）

Day 1
Travel by car
From Kansai International Airport (1 hour 40 minutes).
From Osaka Itami Airport (about 1 hour).
From JR Shin-Osaka Station (about 1 hour).

| ↓ | We recommend that you start from the Densan Hall at the top. Then go to Kamamoto Yokocho, where you can see different styles of Tamba pottery. Kamamoto Yokocho serves as a showcase for approximately 50 pottery studios. You can purchase the pottery if you like.You can also get ideas for your pottery experience later, or you can find your favorite artist and visit their studio and kiln after lunch. |
