“Senju-no-Mori” is a wilderness forest in the mountain behind Wadenji Temple. You can see and enjoy various vegetation and plants. For example, there are large trees such as fir and tsuburajii(a kind of Japanese chinquapin), large timbers of Japanese cedar and many rare plants grow in a moist environment, Japanese chinquapin and oak forest, and Konara oak forest that have been maintained by local people on the small hill to the south.
The forest is named “Senju-no-Mori” (the thousand-armed forest) because it is inhabited by a wide variety of animals and plants, also Wadenji Temple has enshrined “Thousand Armed Avalokiteshwara” as its principal image of worship for more than 1,000 years. It is recommended to take a walk through “Senju-no-Mori” while feeling the rich nature. (Admission free) *”Sen” in Japanese means a thousand, and “Mori” means forest.
