About the Kasuga Shrine Autumn Festival
The autumn festival of Kasuga Shrine, the guardian deity of Sasayama Castle Town, has a history of over 350 years and is a
representative festival of Tambasasayama. Nine Hokoyama(floats) and four Mikoshi (portable shrines) procession through the Sasayama castle town area, and the sound of traditional flutes and drums resounds. Influenced by Kyoto culture, the festival combines elegance and magnificence, and was designated as an intangible folk cultural property of the city in 2017.

Saturday, October 15, 2022 Yoimiya(festival-eve vigil)
Festival music performance for Kamimachi from 6:00pm, for Shimomachi from 6:30pm
Sunday, October 16, 2020 Honmiya(Main festival)
Hokoyama Procession from 9:45am, Mikoshi Procession from 1:00pm
*This year, there will be no procession of Taiko Mikoshi or Yoimiya Hokoyama.
*Closed to vehicles between Seiganji (45 Uoyamachi) and Sonpo-ji (141 Tatsumachi) on October 16th (Sun) 10:00am – 5:00pm
