About the Kasuga Shrine Autumn Festival

The autumn festival of Kasuga Shrine, the guardian deity of Sasayama Castle Town, has a history of over 350 years and is a
representative festival of Tambasasayama. Nine Hokoyama(floats) and four Mikoshi (portable shrines) procession through the Sasayama castle town area, and the sound of traditional flutes and drums resounds. Influenced by Kyoto culture, the festival combines elegance and magnificence, and was designated as an intangible folk cultural property of the city in 2017.

Saturday, October 19, 2024 Yoimiya(festival-eve vigil)
Festival music performance for Kamimachi from 4:20pm, for Shimomachi from 5:00pm

Sunday, October 20, 2024 Honmiya(Main festival)
Hokoyama Procession from 9:50am, Mikoshi Procession from 1:10pm

*Vehicles prohibited between Uoyamachi and Sonpo-ji (141 Tatsumachi) on October 19th (Sat) 4:00pm – 10:00pm / October 20th (Sun) 10:00am – 10:00pm
