Vintage Toy Garden and Anzu Western Restaurant

Vintage Toy Garden opened in June 2020

Uomachi in Tambasasayama is the location of the newly opened Tambasasayama Vintage Toy Garden. It features a nostalgic environment filled with toys and electrical appliances from days gone by.
This store uses the old master brewery building of the Imamura Family in the castle area, and it displays around 30,000 toys and other items that were made from the beginning of the Showa Era (which started in 1926).

They have been used in the popular period movie series Otoko wa Tsurai yo (“It’s Tough Being a Man”), and lively music such as music from the Devilman manga series is played, so both your eyes and ears can enjoy the nostalgia.

You can also play games, including shooting, invader games, spinning tops, and Menko (a children’s game in which thick cards are slapped down on the ground to overturn other cards).

This space allows adults to enjoy pleasures from the past and kids to enjoy something excitingly new to them.

The chef and hostess are both from Tambasasayama. They have always “wanted to sometime have a restaurant in their home region,” which eventually lead to them opening their own place.

They felt if they could not love their own place and help it to grow, that they would not be able to create a place that customers would love, so they named the restaurant after their beloved dog, Anzu.
